Everyone that my wife and I came into contact with were truly professional, caring individuals – not just doing their job but taking extra measures to make sure the patient has comfort and no stress. When I say everyone I mean from the receptionist to the surgeons, to the nurse who took the blood exams, to the physiotherapists, to Claudia Ponert who was our international patient liaison officer. The immediate response and information that Claudia made available and the answers to my questions were always prompt and informative and helpful.
All our needs were met from assistance with buying medication to good places in Guldenfingen to enjoy a coffee.
After years of pain with degenerative Osteoarthritis in both knees that led to a severe pain, I realized that total knee replacement was probably unavoidable.
Given the invasiveness of such a procedure I searched diligently to find the most promising specialist. This research led me to Professor Dr med Ostermeier at the International oriented Gelenk-Klinik in Gundelfingen.
Their diagnostics were very clear. Two knee replacements were strongly advised.
From the very first meeting to aftercare after the surgery, I was totally impressed with the professionality at all levels.
I was initially diagnosed with an early onset osteoarthritis in my left knee 8 years ago and after years of physiotherapy, tailored exercises, steroid injections and most recently also 4 PRP injections, I felt that my condition had rapidly deteriorated to a point where a prosthetic surgery had to be considered. My Swedish doctors performed MRI and X-ray and a battery of movement / flexibility test of my knee. Assessment from the diagnostics indicated an early onset of osteoarthritis (again…) and a recommendation of physiotherapy and exercises (again…) when asked about a prosthetic surgery I got the answer that surgery was 5-7 years away, as I am just 59 years old…
"I am writing this for anyone who is suffering from foot pain issues and is wondering if they should seek out the services of Dr Thomas Schneider of the Gelenk Klinic in Germany...the answer is a big YES."
"The staff are knowledgeable and approachable. The ones we interacted with closely especially the liaison with foreign patients, Mrs. Claudia Ponert, were always very helpful and made the visit as pleasant as can be."
I had a major surgery and I was so impressed by the “5 stars hotel” rooms and treatment in the clinic. The staff was always helpful, friendly and understanding of the pain i had both during the day and at night. I even received acupuncture and physiotherapy treatments while i was there.
"The knee replacement operation proposed was less invasive than that which had been proposed in my home country. Two years later I am walking very well and have excellent movement in my knee."
